Biography

María Rosalia Romero de Pedraza was born about 1712.[1] She was the daughter of Matias Romero de Pedraza and Angela Teresa Vallejos. She married Lugardo Vallejo on 21 May 1730 in Albuquerque, Nuevo Mexico.[2] This must have been a family scandal because Lugardo was Angela Teresa's half brother from their father's 3rd marriage. Lugardo and Rosa married on 31 May 1730 and their eldest son Juan was baptized on 15 June 1730. Lugardo told the church that he didn't know who his parents were.[2]

Lugardo and Rosa had eight known children:

  4. Bernardino de Sena Vallejo (1735-)
  5. María Antonia Vallejo (abt.1738-)
  6. Tomasa Getrudis Vallejo (1740-)
  7. Bernarda de la Luz Vallejo (1743-)
  8. María Polonia Vallejo (1746-)

According to their children's baptism records, they may have left Albuquerque about 1740 and moved to Isleta, since their last three children were baptised there. However, in 1750, they were living in Albuquerque next door to Rosa's parents.[1]
