I have two family names of Rogers, One I have goes all the way back to the start while the other one stops with Thomas Rogers. They were farmers for the most part. They settled in Monroe County Mississippi in the early 1800s. There are four lines of my family that go back to the Revolution and they fought on both sides of the Civil War.

Hi Ed, I think all you need to do is use the edit tab and then just remove him from who ever he is linked to. Make sure to remove him from the wrong parents and sibblings.

That's a good question. I would say more research is needed. It's quite possible that they admired one of the Landon Carters floating around at the time and felt the name was important.

I have an ancestor that named his children after Union Civil War generals...
