Buried Wenona City Cemetery, Wenona, Mashall Co, Illinois. (Cemetery is in LaSalle Co) WENONA — Donald M. Robinson, 91, of Wenona, died at 1:59 a.m. Feb. 17 at Camelot Terrace Nursing Home in Streator where he resided the past 10 years.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hurst Funeral Home in Wenona with the Rev. Ivy Silas of Wenona Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Wenona Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by the Streator American Legion Post 214 and Streator Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of services at the funeral home.
Mr. Robinson was born in Wenona on Jan. 6, 1919, to Milton and Della (Wells) Robinson. He married Josephine V. Tomascheski on Nov. 25, 1958.
Mr. Robinson was the Evans Township tax assessor for many years. He worked at K.S. Grimm's Plumbing, Heating and Electrical and later went on his own. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II in the 21st ACORN (Aviation, Construction, Ordinance, Repair, Navy) Unit where he studied and observed the weather patterns from Jan. 27, 1942, to Sept. 28, 1945.
Mr. Robinson attended Monmouth College and the University of Wyoming. He was a member of Wenona American Legion, VFW and Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by one daughter, Donna Robinson of Varna; one sister, Doris Eyler of Naples, Fla.; and three nephews and one niece.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Feb. 4, 1989, and one granddaughter, Nikki Rae Robinson.
