Richard was baptised 19 March 1786 at Eccleston, Lancashire, the son of Edward Rigby and Elizabeth (Unknown) Rigby.^[1] He married Hannah Norris 6 April 1828 in St Mary-the-Virgin Church at Eccleston, Lancashire.^[2]
