Biography

Jane was born in 1841. She is the daughter of Mark Rigby and Mary Swift.

Research Notes

She might have married John Hardman (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2DWQ-CCY). The biggest argument for this marriage is a close match for her mother appearing in the Hardman household in 1881 (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q27G-99TD).

However, there are a number of inaccuracies on her potential husband’s FamilySearch page (https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/sources/KGNP-Q3D). He’s already married to a different wife when he marries her. He had many more children than appear in the census records. He passed away in 1899, and not only appears alive and well in the census two years later, he even marries another Rigby a full 14 years after his death!

Due to the limited sources documenting Jane’s marriage, I’m not positive if she married John Hardman. If she did, she only married one John Hardman—not the entire group of lookalikes the FanilySearch profile is trying to pass off as one guy. Much more research is needed to know which sources belong to her husband, and which do not.
