Alva Rife Jr. was born in Appalachia, in Ohio.
Alva Rife was born on April 30, 1907 in Cheshire Township, Gallia, Ohio, United States, son of Alvin Rife (1874–1962) and Myrtie L Gilkey (1873–1950).
Alva (23) married Hazel Ellen Foley (17) (born on August 19, 1913 in Middleport, Salisbury Township, Meigs, Ohio; daughter of William Edward (Davis) Foley and Nancy Ellen (Ohlinger) Foley) on August 20, 1930 in Meigs. [1]
In the 1910 census Alva (age 2) was the son of Alvin Rife in Cheshire, Gallia, Ohio, United States.[2] Alvin Rife 35, wife Myrtie G Rife 37, son Alva Rife 2, daughter Mary Rife 10.
In the 1920 census Alven (age 12) was the son of Alven Rife in Cheshire, Gallia, Ohio, United States.[3] Alven Rife 45, wife Myrtie Rife 46, daughter Mary Rife 20, son Alven Rife, Jr 12.
In the 1930 census Alva (age 23) was the single son of Myrtie Rife in Cheshire, Gallia, Ohio, United States.[4] wife Myrtie Rife 57, son Alva Rife 23.
In the 1940 census Alva (age 32) was the married son of Alvin Rife in Carpenter, Columbia Township, Meigs, Ohio, United States.[5] Alvin Rife 65, wife Myrta Rife 67, son Alva Rife 32, daughter-in-law Hazel Rife 27, grandson Worley Rife 8.
In the 1950 census Alva (age 42), Farmer, was the married son of Alvin Rife in Rutland, Rutland Township, Meigs, Ohio, United States.[6] Alvin Rife 75 years, wife Myrta Rife 77 years, son Alva Rife 42 years, daughter-in-law Hazel E Rife 36 years, grandson Worley A Rife 18 years, grandson Charles E Rife 8 years.
Alva died on May 5, 1985 in Gallipolis, Gallia, aged 78. He was buried in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Gallia County, Ohio. [7][8][9]
