James Edward Riddick, Assoc. Justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court, died today of typhoid fever. He was born in Fayette County, Tennessee in 1840.
He received his early education of his native town, and later entered the Macon Academy, from which he graduated in 1868. Later he studied law at the Lebanon Law School, and at the Michigan University, graduating in 1872.
He first started to practice at Arkansas, where he opened an office for himself. He was a prosecuting attorney for the Second Circuit until 1878, when he was elected a member of the Legislature. He became Judge of the same circuit in which he was Prosecuting Attorney in 1886, and in 1904 he was made Assoc. Judge of the Supreme Court of the State.
