James Frederic Rickert has German Roots.



According to the book Vikings to U-boats, James (Emil) grew up without brothers & sisters, his father & step-father drowned at sea when he was 14, he was discharged from the British Navy in St. John's in 1894, he stayed, he later changed his name to James[1]

Emil was born on 9 October 1876 in Danzig, West Prussia, Prussia, German Empire.[2]

He was baptised on 12 November 1876.[3]

Religious Conversion

He converted to Roman Catholic from Lutheran on 13 October 1897, his occupation listed as a seaman. "Born in Dantzic, Germany" sponsors Danial Cleatney[4]

Hello. My name in Kim Rickert and I recently came across this looking for ancestry info on my Great Grandfather. Emil is my Great Grandfather. James Francis Rickert is his son.
