William was born about 1823 in South Carolina. He married Elizabeth Ann Dungan about 1852 in Arkansas. In 1860 they were making their home in Bearhouse Township, Ashley County, Arkansas, near Hamburg. He was a farmer.[1]
He served the Confederacy during the US Civil War. He was a Private in Company A of the 37th Regiment, Arkansas Infantry.[2] He enlisted in April of 1862 in Hamburg. He was then assigned to be a Nurse at St. John's Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. [3]
He died while assigned to St. John's Hospital and is assumed buried in Oakland and Fraternal Historic Cemetery Park, Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas. [4]
