Onke H. Remmers was born on 16 April 1818 in Oldenburg, Germany. ^{[1] [2]}

He married Catharine. ^[1] They had the following children:

He arrived in the United States on 10 June 1852 on the ship Gaston. ^[3] He was traveling with his wife Catharine, chidren Annchersen(?)(12), and mother Ale Catharina (59). ^[3]

He appeared in the 1860 US Census in Green Garden, Will County, Illinois. ^[1] He was living with his wife Catharine, their son Henry, his mother(?) Catharine, and Louisa Schaumberg (8). ^[1] He was a farmer. ^[1]

He appeared in the 1870 US Census in Green Garden, Will County, Illinois. ^[4] He was living in the household of his son Henry. ^[4] He was also living with his wife Catharine, the farmhand Charles Rensel (30), and Charles Hinspeter (11). ^[4] He was a farmer. ^[4]

Catharine died in 1874. ^[5]

He appeared in the 1880 US Census in Green Garden, Will County, Illinois. ^[6] He was living in the household of Carl Smit. ^[6]

He died on 24 July 1881 in Green Garden, Will County, Illinois. ^{[7] [2]}

He was buried at Union Cemetery in Monee, Will County, Illinois. ^[2]

In his will ^[7], he names:

• "my daughter-in-law Frederica Remmers"
• "the three children of my sister, namely: Anton Carstens, Henry Carstens, Adelina Gesina Hinrichs born Carstens and the absent(?) daughter of my brother-in-law (Jacob Siebels) Lucia Maria Siebels"

His sister's family are probably the children of Ulrich Carstens. Ulrich and his wife Ida Margaretha (41), children Heinrich James(?)(18), Annchersen(?)(15), Ulrich Anton (13), Ed Heinrich (10), and Adelina Gesina (7) were listed after him on the Gaston. ^[3]
