Christena Reitz is the daughter of George Reitz, Jr., and Elizabeth (Dobson) Reitz (1819-1896). In 1850 the family lived in Beaver Township, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania. That is most likely where Christena was born.

Jacob Earl Thomas is the son of George Thomas and Elizabeth Thomas (nee Spangler). He married Christena Reitz about 1865, probably in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania. His second wife is Rachel Anice Shaffer (nee Harper). They married on June 25, 1922, in Clendenin, Kanawha County, West Virginia. Jacob died in Sybial, Kanawaha County, West Virginia. Sybial is now known as Reamer, Big Sandy District, Kanawha County, West Virginia.
