Biography with important update

Johan Georg's baptism was recorded May 14, 1713 , at Bieber Ev. Lutheran church, in Germany. He was born at Büchelbach, between Bieber and Röhrig.

Baptism record of Johan George Henrich Reitz

His marriage to Anna Martha Köller/Köhler/Koehler is also recorded in the Bieber Evangelisch Parish record as April 16, 1744. Anna Martha's baptism record was found, she was b. ca Sep. 13, 1720, daughter of Johannes Köller and Gertraut Huth, of Lanzingen.

The individual who Rev. J. J. Reitz named Friedrich's brother, Johan George, was born at Lohrhaupten in 1726, married Catherine Krug there in 1755 and his death is recorded there in 1775. => He was not the immigrant to America as stated by Rev. J. J. Reitz. This error exists in many family genealogies, as it was thought to be correct for nearly 100 years.

Marriage record Johan Georg Reitz and [Anna] Martha Koller

Anna Martha and George had two daughters born while they lived in Lanzingen, until they were given permission to leave, as a family, for Pennsylvania in Mar 1751. They arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on September 14, 1751, in the ship Duke of Bedford.[1][2]

He settled near Rebuck in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, and submitted request for land warrants there within months of the county's formation in 1772. His sons contributed to the founding of Himmel's Church there, ca. 1774.

He was buried on what some call "the Reitz Farm Cemetery", but which specific location is unknown..[3] [The reference is circular]

Christening: (date of birth not recorded) 14 May 1713 Bieber, Gelnhausen, Hessen-Nassau, Germany

DNA verified: Joanne Reitz 23andMe. Common ancestor through Michael Reitz, Andreas Reitz sibling.

Reitz-712, a descendant of Johan George the immigrant. has ftDNA Y-700 data tracking him male lineage.

A second Reitz, whose immigrant ancestor to Pennsylvania was thought to be Friedrich Reitz-433, has also taken the same Y-DNA test, matches Reitz-712 at a GD=8. They are relatives, but the estimated TMRCA indicates common ancestor is probably two to four generations further back in time.

More recently, a third Reitz appeared in the same haplogroup. He and Reitz-433 are more closely related: GD 2 steps at 111 STRs. The tentative paper trail is consistent with him being a 5th cousin of Reitz-412, and he is a known descendant of Reitz-433> That proves Reitz-412 was Friedrich's descendant, as expected. They shared several private SNPs, so were placed, together, into a new downstream haplogroup FTA-52257. Their TMRCA is consistent for 5th cousins.

In this case, the corrections amount to defining a different person — which, in fact, they were.

Different parents, different DOBs, places, wives, DoDs, etc.

How to procede?

How can the several errors present in this individual's record be removed?

They are not the fault of the original posters; the information originally given was widely assumed to be correct until the genuine Johan Georg Reitz, who married Anna Martha [Koller/etc.] and settled in Northumberland County, was found in Jan. 2021.

By entering the correct information, citing reliable sources. Many profiles that had information from sources that have subsequently been proven inaccurate include a Research Notes section just above Sources to explain the issue.

There are also Source pages where one can add commentary about the reliability of a given source. Here's an example: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Genealogy_of_the_De_Veaux_family
