Biography

Mrs. Ruby Gerringer, 101, of Prairie Ridge Care and Rehab, In Mediapolis, Iowa, formerly of Quincy, died at 3:10pm Saturday in Mediapolis.

She was born July 16, 1905 in Quincy, a daughter of William Reis and Lydia Bergmann. She married Bertram Sibbing on June 25, 1924. He died March 18, 1981. She later married Roscoe Curry on July 23, 1982. He died December 11, 1984. She then married Ralph "Cap" Gerringer on April 25, 1992. He survives.

Ruby attended school until the eighth grade. She was a member of St. Francis Solonus Church and the Secular Franciscans.

She enjoyed playing bridge, being a hostess to dinner parties and lunches, attending family functions, and listening to music of all kinds and to books on tape.

Surviving are two sons:

• Robert Sibbing of Macomb
• James Sibbing and his wife, of Quincy;

her sister, Ethel Baker of Peoria; her brother Clarence Klues of Quincy; nine grandchildren, Sheila Koenig and her husband Alan of West Burlington, Iowa, Mark McFarland and his wife Karen, Jon Sibbing and his wife Connie, Jeff Sibbing and his wife Kathy, and Sally Sibbing, all of Quincy, Julie Sibbing of Washington D.C., Eric Sibbing and his wife Laura, and Scott and his wife Lori of Macomb, and Paul Sibbing and his wife, Shannon of Tinley Park; 12 great-grandchildren. Many neices and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Vivian (Sibbing) McFarland; two grandsons, Greg and Brad Sibbing, four sisters, Hilda Harris, Martha Stewart, Bernice Klues, and Genevieve Strieker, and three brothers, Arthur, Virgil, and Joseph Klues.^[1]
