Biography

Sarah Reed of Woburn, Middlesex, Province of Massachusetts Bay, was possibly the daughter [needs sources] of Daniel Reed (son of Ralph Reed and Mary Peirce) and Sarah Johnson, both of Woburn. Please see Research Notes as this parentage information comes from Whittemore's History of the Reed Family which is known be very inaccurate, especially on this particular part of this line of Woburn Reeds.^[1]

Sarah married on 1 January 1728 in Woburn [possibly her first cousin] Joseph Reed (II), son of Lt. Joseph Reed (I) and Phebe Walker, both of Woburn.^[2][3] They had one child, Joseph Reed (III) born 1 January 1729 in Woburn.^[4] Sarah's husband passed away on 6 March 1730 in Woburn.

NOTE: The reference History of the Reed family in Europe and America by Jacob Whittemore (page 78) has inaccurate information on this Reed family line, including conflating this Sarah's husband, Joseph Reed of Woburn, with a different Joseph Read of Sudbury who married a different Sarah, Sarah Rice, also of Sudbury. Please see the Space page History of the Reed Family in Europe and America which has a warning on using this source with "extreme caution" due to "impossible assertions" and wrong information, etc. It has caused much conflation of these two different Read/Reed families.

Unsure if this Sarah's son Joseph Reed had any siblings, a James or otherwise, but he was not the brother or half-brother of Brig. Gen. James Reed, whose parents were Thomas Reed and Sarah Sawyer of Woburn. This also originated with Whittemore and was repeated in a few later books.

Unsure if this Sarah's parents were Daniel Reed and Sarah Johnson (see Whittemore page 74), it's possible but needs sourcing.
