Biography

Although no birth or baptism can be found for Robert Redpath, he was enumerated in the 1851 Scotland Census living in St. Andrews, Fife. He was a 38 agricultural worker born in Kilrenny, Fife. [1]

He married Anne Fife on 30 Nov 1837 in Dunino, Fife.[2] The marriage was further recorded 16 Dec 1837 in Cameron, Fife. [3]

Robert and Anne were enumerated in the 1851 Scotland Census living at Spinskton Coterie in St. Andrews, Fife. His wife Ann was 34 and born in Cameron, Fife. Living with them are their children: Margaret 12, Robert 10, Janet 7, George 5, William 3, Helen 2, and Ann 4 mos.[1]

By 1861, the family had moved to Forgan. Robert was a 47 year old ploughman born in Kilmeny, living in a cottar's house in Forgan, Fife. His wife Ann was 44 born in Cameron, Fife. The children still living with the couple were Ellen 13 born in Elie, Ann 12 born in Camber, Alexander 9 born in St. Andrews, and Elizabeth J. 1 born in Forgan.[6] Note: Census taker put down Kilmeny rather than Kilrenny.

Robert changed his occupation to Cattleman and was living in North Scotstarvit, Ceres, Fife. He was 77 and born in Kilrenny, Fife. His wife Ann was living with him. She was 75 and born in Cameron, Fife. [8]

He passed away 20 Mar 1892 in Craigrothie, parish of Ceres, Fife. [9]
