Biography

John Read, known as Maurice, was born in 1859.^[1]

His parents were John Patrick Read and Sarah Catherine Stovell.^[2]

He died in 1929, aged 70.^[3] and was buried in St. Andrew's Churchyard, Tichborne, City of Winchester, Hampshire, England.

As an English Cricketer, Maurice played for England during the ill-fated Test against Australia in 1882 which gave rise to The Ashes.
