He was married 25 November 1908 in West Branch, Michigan in a double ceremony with his sister Edna to her groom Roy Leitch.
In his younger years Claude worked his way west and spent some time on the west coast salmon fishing and lumbering. Having grown up in the lumbering area of Ogemaw County, Michigan probably was instrumental in his career decision. Immediately following his marriage they moved to Detroit. For a time he worked for the Grace Harbor Lumber Company and later opened the C. W. Raymoure Lumber Company which he owned and operated at the time of his early death. In stature he was about 5'10" and rather heavy set in his later years. He had dark brown eyes and brown hair. Hunting and fishing were particularly enjoyable to him and he went to Canada several times to hunt moose and bear. He also went trout fishing whenever possible. He had a very happy and teasing disposition and was greatly mourned when he died during the Depression.[1]
Dad enjoyed making wine. One fall he went on a moose hunting trip into Canada and left a batch in process. Mother smelled it, thought it was spoiled and dumped it all down the drain.
When Dad was a youngster his younger brother Vernon raised chickens. Claude and his friends would steal a chicken almost every week and have a feast.[2]
