Hans was born in 1898. He was the son of Johann Rausch and the stepson of Luise (Flügel) Rausch. He fought in the German army during World War I. He was a tailor in Wunsiedel, before immigrating to Rock Island, Illinois, in 1923. In Rock Island, he lived with his aunt Catharina Elisabetha (Flügel) Paaske. He committed suicide in 1930.
