Achille Ratti was born in Desio, in the province of Milan, in 1857, the son of an owner of a silk factory. His parents were Francesco and Teresa; his siblings were Edoardo (1855–96), Camilla (1860-???), Carlo (1853-1906), Fermo (1854-???), and Cipriano
Better known as Pope Pius XI.
Pope Pius XI died at 5:31 am (Rome Time) of a third heart attack on 10 February 1939, at the age of 81. Following a funeral he was buried in the crypt of St. Peter's Basilica on 14 February 1939, in the main chapel, close to the tomb of St. Peter.
