Obituary

SAN JOSE, CALIF. - Helen Marie Raper Munn was born on June 22, 1929 in Canton, N.C. and passed away on September 27, 2011 in San Jose, Calif. She was preceded in death by her family to include her father, Martin Alexander Raper; mother, Hattie Botts Raper; brothers, Glenn and Clarence Raper; sisters, Delma Raper Gentry, Ruby Raper Gaunt, and Mary Jane Raper Wynes; husband Matthew C. Munn; and son, Gary Martin Munn.

She is survived by her children: daughter, Sondra Munn Washam of San Jose, Calif.; son, Matthew R Munn of Candler, N.C.; daughter, Debbie Munn Hayes of Fayetteville, N.C.; son, Barry E Munn of Newark, Ohio; and her sister-in-law, Betty Munn Nelson Carpenter of Conover, N.C. She is also survived by her 12 wonderful grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and many incredible nieces, nephews and cousins.

Helen will be buried in the National Veteran's Cemetery in Black Mountain, N.C. She will be laid to rest with Matthew C. Munn, her loving husband of almost 60 years. A celebration service will be held at The First Baptist Church, Asheville, N.C. at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 22 with the Minister, Dr. Guy Sales, officiating. Friends and family are invited to stay for a meal at the church following the service with time to visit and renew ties.

Memorials can be made to The First Baptist Church in Asheville, NC at 5 Oak Street, The American Heart Association, or The American Cancer Society.^[2]
