William Brown Rankin was born in Ireland about 1774.
On September 15, 1806, William married Maxcey Brashears Duvall in Prince George's County, Maryland.
[1][2][3][4] They had ten children - George Washington, Ann Sophia, Elizabeth, Charles Duvall, William, Caroline Cassandra, Grafton Franklin, Dennis M., Jackson Lafayette, and Mary P.
In 1810, there is a record for William B. Rankin in Brooke County, Virginia that also includes a female 16-25 and one son 0-9 (the couple's youngest son was born in 1809 in Virginia).
[5] By 1820, the family had relocated to Newton, Muskingum, Ohio, where the household was comprised of 2 males 0-9, 1 male 10-15, 1 male 16-25, 1 male 26-44 (William), 2 females 0-9, and 1 female 26-44 (likely Maxcey).
[6] In 1840, the family was in Brown, Licking, Ohio, and was made up of 1 male 10-14, 1 male 15-19, 1 male 20-29, 1 male 60-69 (William), 1 female 5-9, 1 female 15-19, and 1 female 50-59 (Maxcey).

William died on November 18, 1848, in Brownsville, Licking, Ohio. He was buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Brownsville.
