Paschal Beverly Randolph was born October 8, 1825 in New York City, New York.[1] He was a illegitimate son of William Beverly Randolph and Flora Myers. His mother was black and his father was white man who abandoned him following his mother’s early death from smallpox in 1932..
Randolph grew up on the streets of New York. Randolph vacillated between denying his African ancestry and embracing it and also claimed Native American and Spanish descent.
He ran away when he was 15 and worked as a sailor until an injury at 20 forced him support himself with a variety of jobs.
He married Mary Jane about 1848. Together they had the following children:[2][3]
By 1870, Paschal was listed as a Physician.[4]
He married Augusta Mary Ann Shore on October 18, 1872 in Manhattan, New York, New York.[5]
He married Katherine "Kate" C. Courson about 1873 in Box Elder, Utah.
Paschal Beverly Randolph died July 29, 1875 in Toledo, Ohio. He was buried in the Beverly Hall Memorial Gardens in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.[6]
