Research Notes

  • Abigail was the daughter of Simon Ralley and Francis Harrison who had married on the 24 . 6.1862. Francis was a Perth Shoemaker. They also were non conformist. [10]
  • Francis was the daughter of Mary Harrison [11].
  • Note The record from above link states: MUSKOTT (MUSCOTT) William .....m. 3rd. 1.2.1874 (Perth C/E) Abigail Kimber b. 1844, (widow of Simon & daug. of Francis Ralley). She arrived 24.6.1862 per 'Mary Harrison', dau. of Francis Ralley. Perth Shoemaker. Congreg.

This indicates that Abigail Ralley arrived in Western Australia on board the ship, 'Mary Harrison' on 24 June 1862 and her father was Francis Ralley.
A shoemaker from Perth refers to William Muskett because the record is about him.
The ship reference to 'Mary Harrison' is confirmed by:

Arrived 24 June 1862 - Fremantle, Western Australia, Australia
ARRIVED.
June 24 — Barque Mary Harrisou, Hughes. master, from London. Passengers — S. W, Watts Esq., Surgeon Superintendent ; 149 single girls, 9 do. men, 32 married couples and 36 children.
  • A mistake in translation which originally read : Francis was the daughter of Mary Harrison, dtr. of Francis Ralley. surely is not right.
  • Confusion with LNAB between Ralley and Rally. I have used the birth record LNAB Rally viz the Dict. of WA source using Ralley.
  • Death of George Henry Ikin, named as late husband of Abigail Muskett in her death notice. Death: Western Australia BDM Index: Name: Ikin George Henry| Male| Age: 75| Father: George IKIN| Mother: Annie UNKNOWN| Died: St Ann's Perth-Guildford Road| Year: 1901| Reg. No. 2503| Reg. Year: 1901| Reg. Western Australia, Australia
  • Place of birth changed to that of England as per arrived in Perth, WA on shipping records. This leaves the question where did she come from ?
