Biography

Emily was born in 1877. She is the daughter of Edgar Rakowski and Mary Adams. ^[1]

When she was 14 she was a witness to the drowning of her infant brother.

Deposition
I am the Deponent Emily Catherine Rakowski on her oath saith I am the daughter Mary Anne Rakowski residing at Tooan with my grandfather William Adams. At about 2 o’clock on Tuesday 20th I was watering some horses for my Grandfather I was absent about an hour. When I got back to the stable my mother assisted me to put the horses back in. We left the stable and my mother remarked: Did you see Alick about anywhere? I said I do not see him. We then both looked through the house, and could not find him. My mother then searched towards the water butt, when I heard my mother exclaim “Oh my God” my child has fallen into the water. She lifted the child out apparently dead. l then hurried into the house and informed my grandfather Willliam Adams. I saw my grandfather and mother endeavour to restore animation by rubbing. It was quite dead. Emily Catherine Rakowski.

Mr. John Shields, of Salt Lakes, has been married to Miss Rakowski, of the Tooan Village Settlement.^[4]

She passed away in 1952. ^[5] She is interred at Harrow Cemetery.
