Biography

Thomas Rae was born on 4 September 1819 in Glasgow, Scotland, son of Jean Weir and James Rae.

He was a soap and candle manufacturer, and a politician in colonial Victoria, Australia.^[1]

He married Janet Love in 1853 at the Presbyterian Church in Geelong, Victoria.^[2][3] Their children were:

• Jean Rae (1857– )^[6]
• Alison Rae (1858– )^[7]
• Isobel Rae (1860–1940)^[8]

Thomas died on 10 December 1862 in Fitzroy, Victoria, aged 43 years.^[9][10]
