Mary was born on 3 May 1830 in Mestlin, Germany, in the Mecklenburg region. She was born out of wedlock to Heinrich Radunz and Sophia Dorothea Garling but was legitimized when her parents married 11 May 1830.
On 22 April 1854, in Mestlin, Mary married Carl Johann Christian Tiede. It is possible that Carl was on the SS Oder on its 1854 voyage departing from Hamburg on 22 May and arriving in the Port of New York on 3 July, but his new wife is not listed as a fellow passenger. It is possible that Mary followed him to the US shortly after, but if this is him she was not far behind because she gave birth to their first child in Indiana around 1855.
Mary passed away on 2 February 1904 and was buried in the Bowman Cemetery in Francesville, Indiana.[1]
