Biography

Augustin Pepin dit Lachance was born in St Jean, Île d'Orléans, Quebec, New France on September 27, 1753, son of Joseph Pepin dit Lachance and Marguerite Filteau. He was baptized there two days later. [1]


First Marriage

He married Marguerite Thivierge on 20 November 1780 at St-Jean, Île d'Orléans, Quebec. [2]Together, they had the following (known) children[3]:

  1. Augustin, n. 5 Oct 1781, St-Jean (Île d'Orléans), d. 15 Jan 1838, St-Léon-le-Grand (Maskinongé); he married Ursule DUPONT on November 7, 1825 at St-Léon-le-Grand (Maskinongé)
  2. Pierre, n. 31 Dec 1782, Yamachiche (Ste-Anne), d. 20 Aug 1843, St-Barnabé-Nord (St-Maurice); he married Marie Madeleine Marguerite LEMAITRE AUGER on May 27, 1811 at Ste-Anne-d'Yamachiche
  3. Joseph, n. 12 April 1784, Yamachiche (Ste-Anne); he married Marie Louise BLAIS on May 11, 1812 at Sainte-Anne-d'Yamachiche
  4. Charles, n. 29 May 1786, St-Antoine-de-la-Rivière-du-Loup; he married Marie Louise GRENIER GARNIER on August 7, 1809, at Sainte-Anne-d'Yamachiche
  5. Joseph, n. 22 June 1793, Yamachiche (Ste-Anne); he married Charlotte LESCADRE on August 28,1815, at St-Léon-le-Grand (Maskinongé)
  6. Étienne, n. ~1796 (PRDH says ~1805, however since his mother died in 1796, this is impossible), d. 30 April 1825, St-Léon-le-Grand (Maskinongé)

His first wife passed away in March 1796.

He married Marguerite Grenier on 13 Jun 1796 at Ste-Anne-d'Yamachiche, Maskinongé, Quebec [4]
