Unknow Pulvermacher is reported to have married Leie Jaffé.^[1]

Research Notes

Research Note 1. Are both of Leie's husbands brothers? Not long after publishing this profile I was contacted by a German woman asking if I had additional information concerning Leie's husbands. She explained that her family tree had both Prockowniks (Prochowiecs) and Pulvermachers and did I know that former was Polish for Powdermaker and that the later was German for Powdermaker, and could Leie's husbands been brothers? A simpler explanation would be that Leie had a single husband and during one of the Germanisation periods they changed their name from Prockownik to Pulvermacher.

A Note Concerning Sources: I have two sources for the Jaffé's originating in Miłosław, Poland. The first is a collection of documents^[1] housed in the Leo Baeck Institute's Center for Jewish History. This collection represents the life's work of Johanna Eva "Hanni" Jaffé, my third cousin twice removed. The second is an unsourced family tree handed down to Charlie Jaffé by his grandmother Hedwig Jaffé, 1964.^[2] "Hanni" Jaffé did not discover my branch of the family until the 1980's (see the correspondence with Ilse Goldschmidt (Box: 1, Folder: 8). In one letter (images 11,12) she tells Ilse (a cousin of my father's) that she had attempted to contact me without success. From this I have concluded that the notes left to me by my grandmother in the 1960's must have a different origin from the work of Johanna Eva Jaffé. I will only cite Hedwig Jaffé's work if there is a discrepancy between the two sources or when Hedwig Jaffé's notes provide additional information .
