William was born in 1926. He was the son of William Pugh and Alma Fuller. He passed away in 2014. he served in the US Army, Combat Infantry, during WWII. Before his 19th birthday, he had received two Bronze Stars for valor in the European Theatre. At the end of WWII, he served on the security detail for the judges that presided over the Nuremberg Trials. Doug loved his country and loved to sing the song "God Bless America," a video recording of Doug in his last days singing "God Bless America" was played at his funeral and it brought many in attendance to tears.
Naoma Nivens was his only marriage and she had three children from a previous marriage (Nivens,) her and Douglas Pugh had no children together.
