In the 1860 Census, he is listed as living in Owsley, Kentucky, married to Elizabeth Spencer, with James D. and Isaac with them.

In the June 18, 1900 Census, he is named Morgan Profitt, born in February 1829, and is 71 years of age.

His Wife Hailey is listed as born in July of 1860 and is 39 years of age.

3 Sons are listed as with him at this time: Jefary, William, and Algam.

He is listed in an 1890 Census of Civil War Veterans as a member of 8th Kentucky Union Infantry, but he does not show in the NPS records, or any other records, of being in the unit.

Hi, I was trying to figure out the exact military service on William here, and was curious if you knew this may be him. I cannot find anymore on his service from any other page:

Also, my link in this tree is by his son Ira Goff Profitt (My Great-Great Grandfather) via his (2rd wife?) Elizabeth Spencer.

She has a death date of 1869, and Ira's Birth Date is 1869. Could this indicate that she died in Childbirth?
