Marmaduke was born about 1750. No document has been found to attest to his date of birth. He was the son of Matthew Pridgeon.

Marmaduke Pridgon, was a Private in the Continental Line, and died in Service in the town of Wilmington in 1776.^{[citation needed]}

Joshua Hadley, Capt J. Bradley, Cpt. John Medearis, Capt.^{[citation needed]}

James Bradley and John Medearis were with the 3rd North Carolina Regiment, Halifax County Regiment. The North Carolina Regiment was organized April 15, 1776 at Wilmington. It included eight companies from Halifax, Edenton, and Hillsborough Districts.^[1]

A Land Warrant for 640 acres was issued to Marmaduke's heirs on the 9th of February 1796.^[2]
