Bob Prevette - District 6630 Governor Rotary Shares Year 2007-08

Robert E. "Bob" Prevette was born In Champaign, IL and grew up in Northern Pennsylvania at Mansfield, PA. He graduated from General Electric Company's four year Foundry Apprentice Training Program in 1960 at Schenectady, NY. During his 20 year General Electric Company career he completed the GE Manufacturing Training Program, their Marketing Management Training Program and their Crotonville Manager Development Program. From his experience in GE's Effective Presentation Program he became an instructor for this program. Bob's business career includes Foreman, Methods, Operations Manager, Materials Management, Quality Control, Purchasing and Sales Marketing Management to include United State sales for a Brazilin steel foundry. He served for the past 15 years as Vice President Sales for Kuenkel Wagner North America, a German foundry equipment manufacturer. He is a 54 year member of the American Foundry Society. He was their Penn York Chapter Chair in Elmira NY 1980-1981. He was a member of the Foundry Industry's Marketing Committees for 23 years and was Chair of the American Foundry Societies Marketing Committee for years 2001 to 2003. He received their Outstanding Service Award in June 2004. Bob was a Distinguished Officer Candidate in the New York State Army National Guard and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. He attended the Basic Officer Infantry Course at Fort Benning, GA. He served 10 years and attained the rank of Captain and was a Company Commander in the 27th Armored Division New York State Army National Guard. His community activities included leadership in the YMCA Indian Guide Father Son Program with his sons in Schenectady, NY and started Indian Guides in Elmira, NY. He received the Elmira YMCA Layman of the Year Award in 1969. He served as the Schenectady County YMCA Membership Chair in 1973. Bob and his wife Caroline, a Paul Harris Award recipient, have been married for 54 years. They attended school together from the sixth grade through High School. Since 2002 they reside in Macedonia, OH. They have three sons. Steve and his wife Jennie of Graniteville, SC.; Greg and his wife Dr. Maggie, parents of grandson Rob, and granddaughters Olivia and Virginia, of Twinsburg, OH; and Rob, a faithful Kiwanian, Honorary Rotarian and Paul Harris fellow who passed away in 1997. Bob has been a Rotarian for 24 years serving as club president, club program chair twice, secretary twice, and membership chair 4 times. Bob joined Nordonia Hills Rotary, District #6630, in 2002 and was designated as Nordonia Hills Rotarian of the Year 2003-2004. He was past membership chair at Nordonia Hills for two years and was Club secretary for a year. He first joined Rotary in Burnt Hills, NY in 1970. He was the Burnt Hills Program Chair and President Elect before a job change required moving out of the area in 1975. He later was a member in Kendalville, IN and then South Bend, IN. He joined the Roseland, Indiana club in 1996 and was twice membership chair and the secretary before becoming Club President in 1999-2000. He received Paul Harris Awards in 1999 & 2002. He has 18 years perfect attendance. Bob is also an Honorary Kiwanian. Bob was the District Membership Chair for for two years, 2004 through 2006 where by the District experienced positive net member gains for the first time in several yeras. Bob was also Co-Extension Chair Chartering the Solon Centennial Club in 2005. He served as Assistant Governor for Cuyahoga County SE Summit Cluster. He was presented the Districts Rotarian of the Year Award for 2004-05, and was rewarded the Zones 27 & 28 2004-05 Centennial Salute Certificate in recognition for Outstanding Work in Membership. Bob enjoys his family, golf, yard work, computer and his Rotary involvement.
