Biography

Sarah was christened 19 February 1826 in Burgate, Suffolk, England. She was the daughter of Mathew Pretty and Mary Baker.

She passed away in 1902. [1]

Sarah arrived in South Australia on 16 April 1840 aboard the Morley, which departed London on 8 December 1839 under Captain Charles Evans, with 192 passengers aboard. Sarah traveled with her parents Matthew Pretty and Mary (Baker) Pretty, and her seven brothers and sisters:

On 26 September 1843, Sarah married Charles Frost at St John Church, Adelaide, South Australia.[3]

Sarah and Charles had eleven children:

Charles Frost died at his home at Para Plains, near Salisbury South Australia, on 6 August 1886. He was 75 years old.[4]

Sarah died 16 years later, on 24 May 1902, also at Para Plains, South Australia. She was 76 years old. [5]

The following notice was placed in The Advertiser (Adelaide, SA : 1889 - 1931) on 5 June 1902:

FROST — On the 25th May, at Rokeby Farm, near Salisbury, Sarah, widow of the late Charles Frost, aged 76 years. A colonist of 62 years.[6]

Sarah and Charles are buried together at St. John's Churchyard, Salisbury, South Australia.[7]
