He promoted interchangeable parts and the adoption of a standard system of gauges for the United States and Europe.
He was living in Hartford, Connecticut by 1870. [2] He is mentioned on a memorial in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut, United States with a death date of 10 February 1902.[3]
