Stella married George Velpo Claud on September 7, 1922 in Yell County Arkansas.

Obituary (Yell County Record Newspaper, Danville, Arkansas, July 13, 1989): Mrs. Stella Claud, age 86 of Burlington, IA, formerly of Danville [Arkansas], died July 8, 1989 in Burlington, IA. She was the daughter of the late Houston and Sally Powers. She was a member of the West Hill United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son, Norman Claud of New London, IA; one daughter, Norma Claud of Burlington; one sister, Mrs. Thessie Wilson of Ola; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Services were Wednesday at Lunning Chapel with Rev. Wesley Lawrence officiating. Burial was in Burge Cemetery in New London, IA.
