Edwin Pountney was born in Dudley, Staffordshire, England in 1886.[1] He was the son of Elon Pountney and Annie Onions.[2]

Dorunda.

Edwin arrived at Townsville, Queensland, Australia on board the Dorunda with his parents and elder sister in 1887.

Edwin Pountney had a good singing voice, regularly went to the local dances and never married.

Edwin worked with his parents and brothers on the family cattle property near Evlinton, until his father's death in 1922, and the disposal of the property. He then worked as a Stockman, and also had his own cattle/horse brand.

Edwin Pountney was suffering with an extensive skin cancerous lesion over the left side of his face, when he passed away at the Brisbane Hospital, Challinor Centre in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia on the 10th of June 1943[3] and was laid to rest on the 16th June, aged 56 years, in the Lutwyche Cemetery in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, Gen. port. 5, Sect. 32A, Alot. 13, Gr No. J707.[4][5]
