Biography

Mary Potts was born probably about 1697 in Groton, Connecticut (Noted as from Groton in her marriage records). She may have been a daughter of Rebecca (Avery) and William Potts of New London, Connecticut, however this is uncertain per the only reference source yet found to support this profile.

Note: The identity of the spouse of Mary Potts has been confused in an earlier version of this profile with Jonathan Daniels (1693-1764) who was a son of Agnes (Beebe) Daniels (1667-1748) and John Daniels (1666-1756). That Jonathan Daniels was a nephew of Mary's husband.

Mary Potts married 1 Jan 1718 at New London, Connecticut, Jonathan Daniels (1682-) [b. 15 Oct 1682, son of Mary (Chappell) Daniels (abt.1642-aft.1709) and John Daniel (abt.1640-abt.1709)], possibly as his second wife. Notably, there is no evidence yet presented to demonstrate that he had a first wife, or if he did, what was her identity.

Mary (Potts) and Jonathan Daniels had a son William the next year after their marriage.
