Harriet Porter was born in the Colony of Victoria (1851-1900)
Harriet was born in Great Western, Victoria in 1886. She was the daughter of William Porter and Eliza Jane Tomlinson. [1]
Harriet married [[Thomlinson-135|John William Thomlinson][ on 23 November 1904 at The Parsonage, Sloane St. Stawell. [2][3] They had three children: Grace in 1905, Beryl in 1907 and John William in 1908. Both before and after his marriage, John worked as a bee farmer, living at Great Western.[3][4]
In January 1917 John faced the Stawell Local Court charged with assaulting Harriet in an argument over a German piano. [5] HArriet left John in April 1917. John filed for divorce in November 1918 once he had discovered that HArriet was having an affair. [3]. A decree nisi was granted in February 1919, with John being awarded costs and custody of the children. [6]
Harriet married Milton Bolitho later in 1919. [7]
She died in St. Kilda, Victoria and her ashes were scattered in Fawkner Memorial Park on 29 June 1969. [8]
