Louisa was born in 1919, the daughter of William Popham and Louisa Stoney. Her early education was in the Far East, while her father served in the occupation of Japan. She was a graduate of Harpeth Hall in Nashville, and then Scripps College in California.
She served in the American Red Cross during World War II. After the war she married William Gaston Raoul of Lookout Mountain.
She passed away in 2000. Survivors include a son, Gaston C. Raoul III of Lookout Mountain; a daughter, Louisa R. Moore of Wando Farms; a sister, Harriet McDougall Rigney, and three grandchildren.
