Biography

Family

Ruby was the daughter of Russell Pope and Cora Moore. She was born on November 7, 1909, and when she was nine years old the family relocated to Oklahoma City.^[1]

Ruby's mother married a second time to Tom Spears, who operated a cafe near the state capitol in Oklahoma City. Ruby worked in the cafe learning to cook and serve patrons. The cafe is where she met her first husband, Pepper Martin.^[1]

Marriage

Ruby and Pepper Martin were married on November 9, 1927, in Oklahoma City. They were married until Pepper died in 1965. Later, Ruby remarried. His name was Otttis A. Pruitt, a farmer, rancher and stockman. They were married in 1967.^[1]

According to the biography written on Find-A-Grave, Ruby was a Sunday School teacher most of her life.^[1]

Death and Burial

Ruby passed away just shy of 100 years old, on January 21, 2009. She is buried at the Quinton Cemetery in Beaver Township, Haskell County, Oklahoma.^[1]
