Naomi Pond was born on 22 March 1704 in Stamford, Connecticut. She was the daughter of Nathaniel Pond and wife Elizabeth Slauson. [1][2]
On 11 May 1721, Naomi and her sister Thankful appeared in court and made the choice of their Uncle Joseph Lee, of Guilford to be their guardian.[3]
Her brother Josiah died in 1726. He left his sisters, Naomi, and Thankful his lands in Stamford.
Naomi Pond married Abraham Weed in Stamford on 11 January, 1727/8. [4]
On 3 December 1758, her enslaved person named Phyllis was baptized in Stamford.
Naomi died on 20 May 1782 in Connecticut. [5] She is buried in the Weed Cemetery. [6]
Note 1: There is a Naomy Weed who married Ebenezer Mead, Esq. on 19 Dec 1759 in Stamford, Conn. [7]
Note 2: Barbour Collection gives the date of this marriage as January 11, 1707/8.[8] That doesn't fit with the birth dates of the participants. My conclusion is an apparent mis-transcription by the Barbour team from an original that must have read January 11, 1727. Unable to find the original, so going with the later date, based on the US and International Marriage Records cited, displayed new-style as 11 Jan 1728.
