- Mr. Thomas Pollard, an old, and highly respected identity of Howard, passed away at Maryborough yesterday afternoon. The deceased, who was in his 76th year, arrived in Maryborough in 1872, and was employed in the Vulean iron foundry until it closed down about 24 years ago. He then, moved to Howard and had since resided there. His wife predeceased him 12 years ago. He is survived by four daughters, Mesdames Hay and Roy (Maryborough), W. Neilsen and T. Neilsen (Torbanlea), and two sons, Captain J. H. Pollard, A.M.C. (Brisbane), and Mr. Thomas Pollard (Howard). The funeral will take place at Howard to-day.
