William Nutter Polk was born March 20, 1786, in Sussex county, Delaware, a son of Trusten Laws Polk and Mary Nutter. William married Lavenia Causey, a daughter of Governor Causey, of Delaware, on July 17, 1809. She was born January 12, 1791 and died March 24, 1825. They are the parents of Governor Trusten Polk, born May 21, 1811, in N.W. Fork Hundred, Sussex county, Delaware. [1]
William died April 22, 1835, at the age of 49 years, in Sussex county, Delaware and is buried in the Bridgeville Cemetery. [2]
