Levi Riley Pogue was born on May 31, 1928, in Cushing, Oklahoma, his father, Robert Lee Pogue (1895-1964), was 32 and his mother, Katie Vestal (Ross) Pogue (1898-1993), was 30.

He had one son with Lola Mae Marler in 1957. He passed away on January 15, 1998, in his hometown at the age of 69, and was buried in Ripley, Oklahoma.
