Biography

Jacob Spencer Plunk was born on 27 Aug 1839 in McNairy, Tennessee, United States. His parents were Calvin David Plunk (1816 - 1898) and Anna Henrietta Gage (1819 - 1898). Jacob Plunk enlisted with the Sixth Tennessee Cavalry, USA, on Aug 25, 1862, at Bethel, Tennessee, during the American Civil War. He had a complicated enlistment, deserting, held at Fort Pickering in Shelby County, Tennessee after his court marshall. [1]. For all the trouble he had during his Civil War service, he still applied for a Pension in 1870 and again in 1893. His widow applied in 1917. His pension card confirms his date of death.[2]
