Plummers and Talbotts
"Anna (Plummer) Talbott, seventh daughter of Samuel and Sarah (Miles) Plummer, was born 26 Oct 1747. Her father, a son of Thomas and Elizabeth Plummer, was born 9 Feb 1761 [the 1761 date is obviously a typo]; her mother, a daughter of Thomas and Ruth Miles, was born 17 March 1705 and died 3 Oct 1788. Samuel Plummer is said to have patented over 2,000 acres of land (at New Market and Monrovia) in Frederick County in 1743, and to have died suddenly at his home in Prince George's County in 1754; soon after which his wife and children settled on the land he had taken up. They were Friends and large slaveholders until the Society advocated manumission [which is the formal act of freeing from slavery]. They suffered during the Revolution from adherence to their principles. The Friends' meeting house at Monrovia stands upon a four-acre lot which Samuel Plummer's heirs gave for the purpose in early times (Sharf's History, W. Md. pp. 607,611)."
