Notes to Researchers

  • Leon was a second cousin I never met. I opened this profile with Leon's obituary as the only source. Hopefully his descendants will find the profile and build on it. I'll probably do no more work on it. G. Pinson (Pinson-796)

Leon Pinson Obituary

Leon Pinson May 23, 1941 - July 10, 2015

Leon Pinson was born on May 23, 1941, to Elmer Pinson and Malee (Hunter) Pinson in Iron Post.

Leon entered into marriage with Snookie Pinson in January of 1962. Leon and Snookie had three children: Robby, Renee and Ralena Pinson.

Leon was a loyal and loving father and his family was his first priority. He had a love for the City of Bristow that was beyond measure and had served civically as a councilman and mayor for almost 30 years.

Leon visited with his grandkids and great grandkids daily.

He loved playing golf on Sunday afternoon and he enjoyed weekend drives with his wife, Snookie and brother-in-law Ronald. He made numerous friends in the car business as owner of Okie Auto Sales, and was well-respected by so many. Each and every one of his grandchildren thought of him as their hero.

He is preceded in death by both parents, Elmer and Malee Pinson and one granddaughter, Heather Ann Pinson.

Leon is survived by all three children, Robby Pinson, Renee Kysar and husband Larry, Ralena Groom and husband Nicholas, grandchildren that he thought hung the moon, Brooke Cassady Graves, Courtney Cassady, Megan Pinson, Savanna and Jacoby Gantz, Cody Kysar, Kristyn Million, Kaycie Kysar, KelsieWofford , and three great grandchildren, Brock and Bristol Graves and Carter Cassady. Leon is survived by all five siblings, Jimmy Pinson, Cleo Pinson, Beverly Langley, Don Pinson and Ricky Pinson, all of Bristow.

Leon often did his best to help people in need and was always fair, honest and willing to make decisions and solve tough problems. He will be sorely missed by the many people that counted on his wisdom and advice.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at 2 p.m. at the Bristow Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Jackson officiating.
