Death
Death Notice
Lloyd Pike PORTLAND, Maine . Lloyd F. Pike, 84, died Oct. 14, 1999. He was born in Newfoundland, grew up in Somerville, Mass., graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1941, and served as a major in the Army at Fort Williams, Maine, during World War II. He settled in South Portland, Maine, purchased a home in 1952, and managed the Kraft Foods/Stauffer Plant there. After retirement, Lloyd pursued his love of sailing on "Sea Shanty," crafted furniture and toys for children, and became a "fix it" expert for numbers of relatives and friends. He also gave generously of his time to community organizations and held offices in Shriners, Retired Officers Club, Rotary, and First Congregational Church. His wife of 52 years, Alice, died in 1995. Because of the acceleration of Alzheimer's disease he eventually moved to Cedars in Portland, where he received expert and compassionate care. He is survived by two children, Kathryn Pike Brown of North Yarmouth, Maine, Stephen Pike of Strafford, N.H.; and three granddaughters, Erin Brown of Burlington, Vt., Jessica Brown of Seattle, Wash., and Mara Pike of Kittery, Maine.
