Biography

Marie Therese was the daughter of Joseph Piché and Scholastique Matte. She was born 18 Apr 1764 and baptized the same day in Cap-Santé. Her godparents were Alexis Petit and Marie Therese Matte, no signatures. [1]

She was married in a Protestant ceremony. Although her parents are not mentioned in the act her mother, Scholastique Matte, is godmother to the first child of John Spatz and Therese Piché which links the family members.

  • John Spatz, Miller, Batchelor of the Parish of Cap Santé, and Therese Piché, spinster of the said Parish, were married in this Place (the Québec Metropolitan Church) by licence, this Seventh Day of September, in the year 1786, By me David Francis De Montmollin, Rector. This marriage was solemnized between us. Signed Johannes Spatz and the mark of Therese Piché. Two witnesses: Christoph Brandt, Tapperlippe, and Christian Gottlieb Strinner, Ein. [2]
  • Marie Scholastique was the daughter of Jean Lespat and Therese Piché. She was born 5 Aug 1787 and baptized the next day in Cap-Santé. Her godparents were Antoine Pollet (signature) and Marie Scholastique Mat. [3]

Therese Piché, 57 year old wife of John Spatt, died 25 Aug 1822. She was buried 2 days later in Notre-Dame-de-Montréal cemetery. [4]
