Last Will and Testament: On May 1, 1709, Joseph Phipps, of the Township of Abington, County of Philadelphia, Province of Pennsylvania, Yeoman, executed his Last Will and Testament leaving his estate as follows: first, to his wife Sarah Phipps, specific personal property and annuity to be paid out of his estate; second, to his son Joseph Phipps, 6 shillings; third, to his son Isaiah Phipps, 6 shillings; fourth, to his son John Phipps, a tract of 174 acres of land in the Township Abington and the rest and residue of his estate. Nominated as Overseers of the Estate where Samuel Cart and Thomas Canby and as Executor John Phipps. Witnesses: Morris Morris, Tyson and William Powell. The Will was proven October 13, 1716.[2]
